National Collection Week
November 17th - 24th

Operation Christmas Child. Click Here!WAVA is proud to partner with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) this Holiday season as they collect shoe boxes filled with needed items to deliver to children all over the world!

OCC is a project of Samaritan's Purse International Relief, led by Franklin Graham, which has collected and hand-delivered more than 61 million shoe box gifts since 1993! This year's international collection goal is 8 million shoe boxes. Can you help us reach that goal?

To participate, all you have to do is fill an empty shoe box with toys and gifts for a boy or girl (be sure to include school supplies, hygiene items, toys, candy, a note to the child, etc.), include a $7 donation to cover shipping costs, and then drop off your shoe box at a drop off location near you during National Collection Week (11/17 - 11/24). OCC then delivers the shoe boxes to children in over 100 countries, and each shoe box gift includes an illustrated Gospel storybook.

Bible Across America Tour!

Bible Across America Bus! Click Here for Tour Details! WAVA teamed up with Zondervan Publishing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible. Zondervan has launched the “Bible Across America” tour, which will visit 90 cities and give people the opportunity to help write the first-ever, completely handwritten version of the bible, appropriately named America’s NIV! The Zondervan tour team recently drove their 42-foot long RV (pictured left) to Washington Bible College in Lanham, MD where Washington, DC area residents participated in this historic endeavor. Over 300 people came out to handwrite verses from the books of Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua and Judges.

The Don Kroah Show broadcast live from the event, which was promoted exclusively on WAVA! Tim Paneitz of Zondervan said the best part of the tour is “the capability to get people back into the Word.” Once completed, America’s NIV will have 31,173 hand-written verses and an index citing each contributor. The original will be donated to the Smithsonian Institute or the National Library of Congress and copies will be printed and sold nationwide. For more information on the tour and America’s NIV, visit www.bibleacrossamerica.com.
